The
total amount raised was $13,085, exceeding the originally expected amount.

St. Mary of the Angels Fraternity Celebrates Their Twenty-fifth Anniversary

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, members of Saint Mary of the Angels Secular Franciscan Fraternity celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of this Korean fraternity in Montreal. This beautiful event was held at the Korean Martyrs Catholic Mission, with the members of the fraternity hosting the celebration. Br. Pierre Charland, Br. George Morin, Br. Gerry Clyne, Br. Paul Seo, and the Korean pastor of the Mission were in attendance, and the priests presided at Mass. The new Council of the Regional Fraternity of Eastern Canada was blessed to be able to participate in this wonderful celebration, along with Secular Franciscans from other fraternities in Montreal.

During the Mass, three members of Saint Mary of the Angels celebrated their silver jubilee as Secular Franciscans. Martha Lee, Clara Kang, and Susanna Park renewed their commitment to the OFS, received the blessing of the Franciscans present, and were presented with beautiful bouquets of flowers. The music for the celebration was inspirational, with moving vocal selections accompanied by glorious organ music.

After the liturgical celebration, all in attendance were invited to attend the reception, with amazing Korean foods and fellowship. The cake cutting for the silver anniversary was special~ very celebratory! There was even a second cake, a birthday cake for Br. George Morin. Those present also sang Happy Birthday to this friar who was the fraternity’s first spiritual assistant.
