October 22, 2023 The newly elected Council of Our Lady of Czestochowa Fraternity in Montreal. From the left: Jozefa Miernik (treasurer), Janina Majka (Vice Minister and Director of Formation), Br. Gerry Clyne (Regional Spiritual Assistant), Eva Maciasz (Minister), Renata Wrobel (Secretary).

Throughout 2024, the Council entered into a process of changing the name of the Fraternity. The Fraternity is now named St. Brother Albert Chmielowski Fraternity.

A message from the Council: We admire Saint Brother Albert Chmielowski who was a great Polish philanthrope and a Secular Franciscan who devoted his life to serving the poor, homeless and underprivileged at the end of the nineteenth century in Krakow, Poland. He organized shelters and food banks for the needy.

Saint Brother Chmielowski was also Founder of the Brothers of the Third Order of Saint Francis, Servants of the Poor, known as the Albertines or the Gray Brothers.

We as Secular Franciscans, believe that in the turbulent times that we all face in the current world, Saint Brother Albert will be an inspiration to our current and future fraternity members.
