Our Sister Annette John, FMM, recently forwarded their first community newsletter which speaks to their deep concern for JPIC. FMM (Franciscan Missionaries of Mary) is an international network for social justice, peace and care of creation. FMM who are involved in different areas of society, see the necessity of collaborating, creating networks, of learning, of being more informed, and of sharing their experiences of justice, peace and integrity of creation. For these reasons, they wish to develop a network to increase and improve their work together. They feel a newsletter will help them connect, share information, receive spiritual ideas, deepen certain pertinent issues, reflect together to better serve others and to take care of our common home. The FMM are dedicated to universal Mission and they live in international communities. Photo above is their Canadian Provincial Assembly. Can you find our Sr. Annette in this picture?
Your new Regional Council: (Left to Right) Visiting Priest Fr. Benny Vincent ofm cap; Michel David, Minister; George Guimond, Vice Minister Atlantic Area; Carol David, Vice Minister Quebec/Ontario Area; Debbie Richard, Secretary; Sherrill Guimond, Formation Director; Luba Legault, Treasurer; Doug Hagen, Regional Spiritual Assistant (appointed by the First Order) and Gilles Métivier, National Minister Message from the Minister, Michel David:
" Great participation" " Excellent preparation" " I was truly impressed and gratified by the reverence and dignity in praying" " Music was beautiful!" " Exposure to National (Fraternity) was wonderful" " Inspired by my brothers and sisters to set out ( and serve)" The accolades go on and on to the Conference cttee, the Music Ministry, the Regional Council but most of all to each of you who with great humility follow the steps of St. Francis and live your Franciscan charism. This Elective Chapter was not just "more of the same". It was a dynamic renewal of our faith in God, in Francis and in ourselves that "The LORD is with me. I will not be afraid. What can people do to me?" The delegates of our Chapter, spoke, listened, and on the last day, guided by the Holy Spirit, voted with their hearts on fire, and their minds focused on compassion, appreciation and hope. I wish to thank all delegates and fraternities for their outstanding life of service and prayer over the past 3 years. The Priorities Committee workshop was a success and as soon as the Regional Council gets their report we will discuss its recommendations ans develop a suggested plan of action that all levels of fraternities can follow. The summer is ending faster than we would like, but this is not an ending, its the beginning of a new era in our Region's life, because we have learned that we do not need to fear, for God is with us. Pax et bonum, Michel David, ofs, Minister Regional Fraternity of Eastern Canada Janet and Charlie McDonald celebrate with their family on the occasion of their permanent profession earlier this year.
